“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say, ‘It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.” — Fred Rogers
Patrick provides clerical and administrative support primarily to the Foundation’s program staff. He draws on more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit, private, and governmental settings to help his colleagues do their work with less effort.
He enjoys applying his eye for detail and background in graphic design and illustration to whip Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations into shape. He also assists in coordinating logistics for Foundation convenings, events, and board meetings.
When he’s not helping his heroes at the Foundation, Patrick pursues his lifelong love of railroads by collecting and building model trains. In addition, he’s been a historical re-enactor since the late 1970s, portraying American and British characters from the 1780s to the 1860s. He met his spouse of over 40 years when they both worked as costumed guides at Minnesota’s Historic Fort Snelling. They are both active members of La Compagnie des Hivernants de la Rivìere Saint Pierre, a Minnesota nonprofit historical society that re-creates life from the early 19th-century Great Lakes fur trade.
Patrick is passionate about the need to address climate change and build a more sustainable future for the world, particularly now that he is a grandparent.
