In one word, that tool is: ORGANIZING. TakeAction Minnesota plays an advocacy role in helping low-wage workers to organize themselves around challenges to finding and keeping good jobs and to take action in developing better policy opportunities.
A new profile developed with Pollen Midwest explores how NWAF grantee TakeAction works with low-wage workers who just want living wages, benefits, and some financial security. The workers are finding ways to amplify their voices and build movements that open up pathways to good jobs and better lives for their families.
TakeAction’s advocacy work is important because employment systems need to have better responses to barriers to good jobs, such as having a criminal record or trying to care for a family on low wages. The low-wage workers that TakeAction organizes are able to transform their experiences into action that paves the way for better policy.
